I really didn't want to go into it as I don't think opensource goes well with country politics, but you can read http://abriefhistory.org/?p=774 for example. The point is that the mint maintainer most likely does not want mint to have Israeli mirror. So I doubt it will be accepted as an official mirror, and doing a sneak mirror because he doesn't agree to do an official Israeli mirror that should not be acceptable IMHO.
In all my time being involved in open source I never before saw a behaviour like that against Israel or any other country. People from Israel, arab countries and Iran been working together for years on bidi related issues, and other problems which are common to our different languages. The way he chose is very dangerous and for me goes against one of the most beautiful things in open source. I think it will be a very bad idea to mirror that distribution, both because it actually hurts open source and because it drags hamakor into a type of politics that really shouldn't exists in open source.
