OK, but does your AV receiver support anything but 48kHz? I wasn't aware that HDMI supports other sample rates, but this is a very common issue so it seems a lot of devices only support the 48 kHz, i don't know what iOS/iPhone supports, I actually thought it's only 48 kHz, maybe that's the limitation here. A lot of Apps had issues with this in the past if they didn't allow sample rate conversion (depends on the audio interface you use) so music was actually playing too fast.
