I am new to squeezebox and am looking for some way of removing a PC (running JRiver) from my system.
I have ordered a ReadyNAS and plan to use SBS on it, but for now am trialing SBS with a laptop. My DAC is actually integrated into a Classe CP-800 preamplifier and to make the most of my DAC, it needs a USB connection. So am looking to iPeng/iPad2 as a player connected to my amp/DAC. So far, it works fine and my DAC charges the iPad2 and what's really interesting is that the remote for the amp can pause/play fwd/rwd and stop iPeng. This is really cool because I have a Logitech Harmony remote that can now control my music as well as everything else in my AV setup. The only thing missing is a command to auto shutdown the iPad - for example if the iPad lost AC power when the amp was switched off, is it possible for iPeng to close itself and put the iPad in standby??
