If yer using the heatsink that came with the processor, then that's your problem.
ALL AMD's chips should be cooled with an Alpha PAL8045 with big boss fan bolted to it. Anything else and there will be a constant doubt in your mind as to whether your CPU is frying or not. http://www.anandtech.com/cooling/showdoc.html?i=1532&p=25 peace daze -LOS ----- Original Message ----- From: "dj daze" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Drum & Bass Arena Discussion List" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Sunday, February 03, 2002 12:37 PM Subject: [dnb-prod] cpu probs > > i recently upgraded to a 1GHZ athlon chip but i'm having > serious overheating problems!! > > i set the pc to shut down if the cpu reached 90C [amd's max temp] > and it is reaching that - and shutting down!!!!! > > i've read though that at these temps the pc should be very unstable > but mine isnt - it works fine up to that point. > > could it just be a dodgy cpu thermometer? i've read that they arent > very accurate. > > btw, the heatsink and fan are supposed to be fine for the cpu. > > > > daze > > advisory / armageddon recordings > http://stage.vitaminic.co.uk/dj_daze > > > > > > > --- > Drum&Bass Arena Producers Discussion List http://www.breakbeat.co.uk > You are currently subscribed to dnb-prod as: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] > --- Drum&Bass Arena Producers Discussion List http://www.breakbeat.co.uk You are currently subscribed to dnb-prod as: [email protected] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
