Reaktor is absolutely wicked and you'd be surprised how quickly you pick it up. The big bonus is you can build your own synth complete with whatever FX you want, all midi controlable, of course! Also, it comes with some killer already made synths and FX, so all you have to do is chain them together and tweak them to your liking.
And yeah, everyone says Absynth on the Mac is hard, can't understand why it was never released on PC in the first place...
