Hi,
I also have a Dodge Intrepid with a 2.7L motor. I am not sure if this
is what is happening with yours but the best I can tell you is that
these motors are junk. They get sludge in them and then quit. We also
talked to a dealership about trading it in and no one would give us a
decent price. Chrysler of course says they have no clue about what
causes it, they blame it on the owners. We changed the oil in ours
every 1500 miles and still had to replace the motor($1600!) before it
had 100,000 miles on it. The only reason we replaced it was because we
couldn't justify buying another car after what we paid for this one-my
husband put the motor in which saved us mega bucks. Good luck with
yours and I will keep my fingers crossed that you aren't having the
same problem I did.
Connie
