Hi, Yes, my husband put the same motor back in it. A mechanic told my husband the other day that you can put a 3.5L(I think that's the size) in them. You have to change some stuff but I guess they will work. Also, mine is a 99 and the dealers around here are only giving between $1000-$1500 for trade-ins. For what I paid for it I will be driving it until it is so rusty it will never pass inspection or I run out of money to put motors in it! Despite all this,I have to say, that I too love my Intrepid. Other then the motor it has been an awesome car. So much room for my kids, I vacumn it twice a week and shampoo four times a year to keep it clean. I just wish Chrysler would own up to the problem and offer some kind of fix or rebate for it. But we all know how that works! Again, good luck with your car. Connie :}

I love my car and have took awesome care of it. I am with you though...we spent alot on them, and if you are not going to get much...why not replace the engine as to loose money trading out.
