Hey Group, We are now home from our weekend road trip where the car averaged 25.32 MPG....and even better.....no "Malfunction Indicator Light" illuminating.
Thanks for all the input, it appears to be fixed and NO error codes! I have now disconnected the (-) cable, removed the throttle body assemble and thoroughly cleaned the butterfly area of it's build up....which really didn't appear to be much. And it didn't seem that it was in anyway limiting the butterfly travel or airflow. I also removed the idle air control valve and cleaned it as well. My previous "fix" was also removed allowing the butterfly to now close to it's original location. Then I reinstalled the valve, and then the installed the throttle body....and lastly hooked up the ground wire. This time the engine immediately idle when started. So far so good. We'll be heading out of town early tomorrow morning, and back home sometime Sunday with fuel mileage figures.
