I don't know if this is the first post about this mn2000 or if there was an earlier one that described the actual trouble.

I would open it up and look inside to see what the trouble was. If it is a broken or arced over wafer switch, or fried meter circuit parts, I think I would go for the refund. You could have a hard time finding someone who could repair it and find the parts.

If it were simply a bad connection (unlikely unless someone was in there messing around before) then I would just fix it and tell the seller all is well. Most everything in there is very easy to see and a scorched part would stand out.

I think finding exact replacement parts for most of it would be very difficult. The mn2000 is not a super rare thing. You can always find another one.

Good luck to you

So the seller is a straight up guy and offered to take back the DOA unit, pay for shipping and refund my money. He also offered to pay for a tech to repair it. My choice. I’m located in the metro Washington, DC area and I can probably get someone to get the unit operational for me but it would take a while. Then I could begin the process of cosmetic restoration, if I wished. The third option would be for me to try to do the repairs, but I’m really not the best technician in any given room.
What do you guys think I ought to do?
