Having said that, there are reasons to pay the "going price" on Ebay....time
contraints, deadlines, ego massaging(every Buggy Whip collection needs an 1897
left-handed model), and lack of knowledge.
Unfortunately for the large number of hams who are frugal(cheap) there are
enough folks who attach a higher value to junk than they do.
Like it or not...as Ebay turns into the sales venue of choice, we will see the
number of hamfests decrease, and of the ones remaining, there will be less and
less in terms of bargains.
The big local one in Baltimore has less and less ham stuff every year,,,and what
is does have is of less and less quality...so, in the main you see some horrific
junk at horrific prices.
Venues like this list are a great place to find good gear at fair prices...since
most of us still maintain the sense of brotherhood.
And so, while I shop ebay for may of the reasons listed above, I request that
this list NOT be used to shill any Ebay auctions...yours, mine, your buddys...
If you are a seller, and you need the big bucks...sell your stuff on Ebay,,,but
don't advertise it here.
I've noticed that there are fewer "sellers" on the list....when challenged, they
have sucj interesting justifications for using this venue to make money (g)
