More likely a Bias supply failure. Probably a shorted electrolytic capacitor in the AC-4.

The Bias supply should read approximately -65 VDC at the transceiver. Most all the AC-4 power supply filter caps are years past their life expectancy and are just waiting for the most inopportune time to die!

The AC-4R board/kit from Mike Bryce at the Heathkitshop is the ideal way to deal with the problem, and set your supply to work for the next 30 years.

I turned on my TR4 this morning to find it deaf. I tried tuning
up and found the plate meter would peg on tx even with the
power turned all the way down. What's more, I have to give
the old girl a "thump" to get her to unkey now.

I know - TX/RX relay.... How do I remove it and test it? Where
can I get a replacement? Is it the relay or am I guessing wrong?

Ken
