benjamin-moore paints has a 18"x24" plastic sheet that is bright white and somewhat translucent. they are use for painting samples on. i think they are made by modern masters. its just like the for sale signs but no waste.

Hi Gary -

Been kinda quiet from up your way!

I have seen some of the white diffuser strips that have yellowed.
That's a result of UV (sunlight), the same problem that causes those
brown looking dial discs that you see occasionally. I guess these are
units that have sat in a bright sunlit room, or??? I believe window
glass absorbs most UV, so maybe they were used outdoors or in windowless rooms!?!?!?! You have seen a LOT more units than I have, but I've only
seen one or two like that.

There is no way to reverse the yellowing. I'll do some research and
see if I can come up with anything. Seems like someone was using the
white area of the "FOR RENT" signs from the hardware store. Let you know!

Garey,
It's been my experience that the white plastic background turns yellow with age thus making the dial appear green. Usually the blue film fades and in some cases to the point of almost being clear. If you ever find a replacement for the white background or a way to reverse the process let me know. I have tried several materials but nothing passes light like the originals. I have a bag full of old white dial backgrounds that are yellow when held to a light.
