Garey,
It's been my experience that the white plastic background turns yellow with
age thus making the dial appear green. Usually the blue film fades and in some
cases to the point of almost being clear in and around the center. If you ever
find a replacement for the white background or a way to reverse the process let
me know. I have tried several materials but nothing passes light like the
originals. I have a bag full of old white dial backgrounds that are yellowed.
