No disrespect was taken. As for drifting, the x-lock fixed my broken TR7 quiet nicely :)
IMO most TR7s are broken if, like me, you don't have the time to let the rig warm up for about 15 minutes before the net or QSO is ready to start. This has been observed with 3 TR7s and a TR7A now with and w/o RV-7s. Each one seems to move about 1.5 Khz up w/i first 15 minutes then pretty well settle. Based on my R10, it is mainly the PTO moving around. Of course the R10 is not an NBS traceable device. Also observation is that the TR7s do quite a bit better if the ambient temp of the house is around 70 degrees. Same holds true for the B-line. The PTOs just seems to move around much slower when in the correct ambient temperature home. 73, Ron WD8SBB --- On Fri, 8/26/11, Jim Shorney <[email protected]> wrote: > From: Jim Shorney <[email protected]> > Subject: Re: [Drakelist] Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and drift-free modern > radios > To: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> > Date: Friday, August 26, 2011, 5:29 PM > On Fri, 26 Aug 2011 02:24:06 -0700 > (PDT), Ron wrote: > > >the x-lock tends to make the drift w/i the TR7 > manageable. > > No disrespect was meant. :) I've looked at these > gadgets, and don't find them > necessary.
