Ummm ... my "expanded" IC-91AD works just fine on D-STAR. I'm not
aware of any difference in the two HT's in that regard.

For the benefit of the OM originally asking about the differences, I
offer the following. AFAIK, what the IC-92AD offers over the IC-91AD
is IPX7 protection, two more intermediate power levels, another
choice in the voice record function (10 x 3 as well as 2 x 15
seconds), a slightly larger case, ~ $145 additional street price and
the option to add a rather expensive GPS capable speaker/mic. I'm
happy with my IC-91AD and don't expect to move to an IC-92AD for a
while, if ever. Yes, the IC-91AD can get warm (hot) when used for
extended QSO, which I don't do. With the repeater coverage we have in
Arizona, I seldom have to use high power anyway; low power and a gain
duck normally works fine. The next HT I plan to add to my collection
of many will be a Yaesu VX-8, if they ever get here.

91AD. - sb]
