New batteries have often been sitting on a shelf for quite some time. They
pick up a heck of a memory which needs to be "burned" out. My most recent
two new batteries needed to be charged and discharged fully three or four
times before they behaved normally. When the lightning bolt disappears
from the battery icon it means that the Duo thinks the battery has reached
a full charge and has reduced the charge to a trickle. At that point you
need to drain the battery completely by runing the Duo on battery power.
Run it until it shuts off completely, then charge the battery fully again.
The first time you drain the battery it will likely only last a short time
and the Duo may shutdown pretty hard (little or no warning). With each
cycle, however, the battery's performance should improve greatly. When
charging it is a good idea to let it sit at the trickle stage for several
hours to "top off" the charge.
