After sitting for a few months unused, my 280c was acting sort of flaky and
I was even suspecting the PRAM battery. Then I was reminded about resetting
the Power Manager. That seemed to reduce the state of confusion about the
battery's charge. Then I used an app called "Battery Amnesia" which drains
the battery even farther than Apple's reconditioning app. But if they've
issued you an RMA number, it may be best to just send it back and get one
that is known good.
