Try turning on the Duo with the charger EMPTY, wait till the Duo starts up
fully, then stick the battery in the charger. I just did this to an M1812
charger last month and I had no problem with Type 2 or 3 batteries. You may
need the Type 3 extension on the Duo though... I can email it to you on the
weekend if you want, too busy to search for it now :-(
