Ah, OK, got it. You've got a sync problem. Two possibles are a damaged
logic board (most likely) or a damaged cable (doubtful as the 230 display
shows the same problem). BEFORE surgery, tho, have you fully reset your
PRAM? (Command-option-p-r on startup; let chime 3-4 times) Try setting the
display characteristics (monitors CP) to basic greyscale and see what results
if you can access it when in the dock.

Due to the drop, I'd have to assume a physical problem (tho check the above
first). One possible is to dismantle the unit, pull the logic board and
check to see if a piece of trash has shorted anything top/bottom of the logic
(introductory work to becoming like MadDog....scary, isn't it??). Make sure
you are in an anti-static environment!!! (get an anti-stat bag and use it as
an anti-stat mat....DO NOT use aluminium foil!!! Makes nice big sparks when
it shorts out the power supply!) Set the bare logic on the anti-stat mat,
connect the HD and the display, and then carefully connect the AC adapter
(make sure nothing shorts out...be VERY careful at this point). If it boots
normally, you either had trash shorting out a chip or a PRAM problem (when
you remove the logic, you disconnect the PRAM batt). If not, I'd say you
have a bad logic. Let's hope for the former!

I'll play with the "stripe" problem later and see what I can find.

Cheers;
Andrew

(Who will also get out his IC Master and see which chips are the VRAM chips.)
