Have you checked the latch switch that detects when the lid is closed for continuity?
Try unplugging it from the motherboard and attaching the leads to an ohm meter. It
sounds alot like the 2300 thinks the lid is closed.
That's all I can think of to do. I haven't messed with my display before.
