DC actually (BIIIIGGGGGG Batteries! Not kidding, either) However, most
phones for a country are wired in that particular way and/or have a diode
matrix to allow useage on any type of line. I've got an old Bell Tel. phone
with a polarity switch, as it lacks the diode matrix....and my office has
switched lines somewhere. Phone will receive, but will NOT dial out!
Stranger and stranger!
Cheers!
Andrew
