I bought a used Duo 280c and it did not boot at all. Took it all apart
and with it largely disassembled it would boot. Put it together and NO
GO. It turned out to be the conductive foam-like material on the top and
bottom of the long PDS slot. It had slipped out of place (actually, I
think someone had dissassembled it and put it together wrong) and was
shorting across several of the PDS pins. I put it in place properly and
the little duo is still working like a champ today! The purpose of the
material is to connect the shell around the PDS slot to the stiffener
frame, bot NOT to anything else.
