Well, I've been looking over the motherboard with some rather thick reading
glasses and about the only thing I can see is that the underside of the
board, in the general vicinity of the PDS slot pins looks kind of dull and
filmy instead of that shiny, glossy finish. It even looks like there may be
some corrosion around the PDS pins and in spotty places nearby.
Should I try cleaning this area with alcohol as suggested earlier?
I also put it in the dock and flexed the board some while it was booting. It
seemed to hang. When I shut down and boot, I get the strobe sound and no
boot. When I remove and replace the board, it works again.
I'm beginning to think the problem is focused around the PDS slot and/or
pins going through the board.
When it's booting, if I push slightly on the board, in the area right
centered behind the PDS slot, it stops everything dead in it's tracks. I've
looked but I don't see any cracks. Perhaps I'm just causing a bad connection
with the PDS slot with all the pushing...I don't know.
