Thanks, JPM, for your interesting and illuminating comments.

Is Ricochet going to survive/stay in business/be acquired? What do they say
to subscribers?

After getting used to more precise typing on a 2400, I also found the G4-Ti
keyboard much too big. It seems that the finish of Apple's laptops are
getting increasingly fragile. This is clearly a big problem with Ti as well.

Agree totally. In fact, I really enjoy Duolist more than the others. Glad
you're stickin'around!

Of course, the *inimitable* one and only....

I looked at the pics (+pissin'on MS--that's really great!) and your server
farm--the 7500 is an all time great desktop, eh? Your dealer must have been
a little disappointed not to have convinced you? My brother ordered iB2 from
Apple the same day of release but I started pointing out other deals so he
cancelled and then "reality" set in so he's still mulling the future months
later while using his still serviceable WS-G3. (BTW, he lives in Seattle).

Me too. I reconsidered experimenting with it after monitoring some
discussions (too much hassle and futility) and I discontinued all of Eric's
OSX digests--just way too much volume.

Ditto. The 2400 is ergonomically so much more comfortable to travel with and
to plop on my lap. Mine literally goes everywhere in a "reassuring" way. But
like I've said before, Apple can't afford to build a modern day
equivalent--they'd go out of business allowing a 5 year old product to stay
near today's best.

Artificially crippled was my reaction too--as I ranted about the missing PC
card slot. But products have to be "crippled" into planned obsolescence.

No need to figure--I and many 2400 users prefer8.6. I either laugh or choke
every time I bring up Sherlock on 9.1 (which is admittedly better than
9.04). "Kludgy" is being nice--it seems like it was being aimed at 6 yr old
kids along with the iMac type Finder.
