Mine was manufactured in week 40 of 1997, and has worked like a
champ. It was one of those $999 refurbs. I got it last summer
(July), and put a Vimage G3/320 in early this year. Few problems
outside of the time that I thought my backup battery had died (I
guess it just needed some serious quality time plugged into the wall).

My 8.5.1 vs. 8.6 experience was the opposite of whoever said 8.5.1
was trouble on their 2400. I never, and I mean never, crashed under
8.5.1. Under 8.6, maybe once every two or three weeks it suddenly
quits about half of the running applications (as if I had hit "Shut
Down") and then hangs. I can't figure that one out, but since it's
so infrequent, it hasn't been much of a problem. The lower operating
temps and longer battery life under 8.6 more than outweigh this.
