Hi,
got the same problem and we're using ClearCase, too. Although with only one
mapped view, but that's the one I'm working one.
I don't know, whether this is only local to our ClearCase installation or
if this applies to ClearCase in genereal. Even on normal usage ClearCase takes
sometimes a longer time for doing checkouts. In combination with IDEA this yields
to some awful effects like:
- Sometimes during synchronization (if this is, what the waterglass icon on the right
of the editor shows), editing freezes and it takes a longer time, possibly
yielding an IOException that the file could not be opened, leaving an empty editor.
The file in the mapped view appears to be normal.
BTW: If this happens, I must close the project as reopening in IDEA still
shows the empty editor. Synchronization doesn't seem to be able to
reread such "lost" files (now appearing with a J icon
in my project tree). Would be fine, if there would be a possibility
to check this file again.
- The ClearCase check out in the version tree fails more often if the version
tree is invoked via IDEA (which CANNOT be a problem of IDEA, but it seems to
me that checking out in the Windows Explorer usually does not fail).
But that seems all to be a problem of our ClearCase installation, so I do
not think of IDEA as root of the freezing problem.
