True. Let me correct myself and say that I am not intending to put blame on students, or to take blame off of me, but to point out that there is a problem to be addressed.
As I said, I'm trying to address it from my side, but even after doing that, the other side isnt with me to the full, mostly until after they have graduated. I've had students come and admit that they were wrong about curriculum being bogus, and appreciating that they are directly applying what I taught them at their job.
True we must link with the industry, true we must have relevance in the courses. For instance, Numerical Methods is so cool, it can be taught in an entirely different and productive manner.
The thing is that there are certain things I can not directly change, but I can change myself and then there are certain things I can change. If I change myself and whatever is in my control, others will follow suit and also, the circle of things in my control will grow.
But how do we change the sutdent side?

NED used to have two kinds of teachers in my times.

haphazard manner they do research in some domestic

teachers!

Students usually do not like both kinds, because none
of these them can keep a balance between theoretical
and practical learning curves. To keep students
interests kicking, hardcore theory should always be
backed up with some implementation examples etc - for
this purpose its teachers responsibility to have
persistent contacts with local industry, atleast.
NUST-EME and UET-Lahore have implemented the same
thing successfully.

By the way, the EMF equations can come in really handy
when one picks to do something in areas like
microwave!
