This is a periodic status posting for the ecopath discussion
list. Currently there are 58 people signed up and six new

This is an unmoderated list and any topic related to living
ecologically is welcome. I usually post something each
day, but this is now harvest season and a greenhouse project
has grabbed my attention.

On the topic of harvesting we are now having a good time with
potatoes. For the first time i actually coddled our potatoes
gave them compost to grow in. Occasionally we even went so far
as to give them water. This must have been a surprise because
they grew huge. The first one i dug up filled the bottom of
a plastic bucket and we are giving them away as gag gifts.
For dinner tonight we filled a frying pan with half a potato.

Maybe i've stumbled on a secret method to grow huge potatoes?
All we did was dig a trench and fill it with compost plus some
manure. As the potato grew we added a deep straw mulch all
around. Water was never allowed to touch the potatoes or
plant leaves and they remained disease free and green. They
are still green and putting on potatoes but fall is here.
