Gina:

You may want to search the archives; when I was new to EDI I had asked
the same question. There are several good and informative responses.

Subject: [EDI-L] ISA-14

Hello Group
Can someone please explain what the ISA-14 is used for exactly?
The standards say '0' for No Interchange Acknowledgement Requested and
'1'
for Interchange Acknowledgement Requested (TA1).
All ISA-14 elements that I have seen always had a value of '0' and a 997
acknowledgement was still sent back.
Is this something other than a 997?
Thank you for any insight.
