Tools like UltraEdit have fairly fast search routines that let you query
an entire tree of a path for a specific text string.
Whatever these transactions are, they likely have some kind of an
identifiable string which could be equated to a "transaction".
Example: "^p^tTotal:" would be a [CRLF], [Tab], and the string "Total:"
Regular expressions are supported and you can do these searches in Hex
as well.

Oh yes, I am doing all that. Calculating costs is the easy part
because so
many departments in IS here already do it. I know what to charge
per sq ft
of office space that we occupy and how many years to depreciate
the servers,
etc. It was assigning the value that has me stumped. Measuring
sales $ is
one thing but I also send a huge number of non-edi transactions
over our
servers between plants. Shouldn't I get credit for providing
that service
and what sort of value do we apply to it?
