Thank you for reinforcing my point about the intrinsic absurdity of a
"copyright 'public standard'"
But if this is a concern to you, just create your IGs without ever
referencing ANSI or its standards... instead just publish YOUR standards...
eg for a transaction set you call an "850," in a segment you call "BEG"
which appears first in that transaction set, you say "Delimited Element
Three of this segment contains our PO number, alphanumeric, minimum size 1,
maximum size 22"
(Wow, am I lucky today or what? That just happens to be the same specs ANSI
X12 uses! I guess this is the week I should buy that Lottery Ticket!)
