It's just too difficult to try to code the logic in to detect if the change is still allowed; e.,g, delete an item, but order is already in picking/shipping. Better IMO to just give the "customer change request" to a skilled customer service rep... who, by the way, has the time to handle these things now because (of EDI) he/she no longer has to spend time handling the routine stuff.
