Quick history on IE as I recall:
IBM had two systems STEDI and Information Exchange (IE). STEDI was also known
as Advantis and was the system Sears was on at one point. All IBM interconnects
went through STEDI, never directly to IE, and probably why often referred to as
Advantis by all the other VANs.
To my knowledge there are no more end users on STEDI, but only the remnants of
Interconnects while GXS completes moving all IE interconnect traffic to
“daisy-chain” off of TGMS for the remaining on IE customers. Most of the VAN
interconnects on STEDI were moved or merged on to TGMS interconnects. FWIW,
that was not allowed for ECGrid which was forced by GXS to route Inovis –> TGMS
–> IE, which you can only imagine has caused nothing but trouble for the
trading partners involved.
Just another brick in the wall.
