Word comes with an equation editor that will do the trick. It is not always included in the default installation, so you may have to get out that installation CD and install the equation editor. To start writing an equation in Word, click Insert, Object, MS Equation Editor. The embellishments function in the command window will allow you draw the bar. The equation editor is a bit klunky. Just play with it a bit and you will catch on how to use it.
Karl W. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I'n new to Microsoft Word and I need to know how to represent X-Bar as a symbol. That is, how do you get the bar over the X or over a lower case x? I have both Word 97 and Word 2000. . . ================================================================= Instructions for joining and leaving this list, remarks about the problem of INAPPROPRIATE MESSAGES, and archives are available at: . http://jse.stat.ncsu.edu/ . =================================================================
