Bill,

You seem to be getting the display that will occur if the K2 is powered on while holding a button - That is the firmware level that is being displayed.

Normally, one would press TUNE after power has been turned on. It that is in fact what you are doing - then I would think the K2 is cycling power - that may mean that you have a bad connection or cable on the power supply or that you are overloading the power supply. IF the K2 is drawing excessive current, the usual thing is to see a HI CUR message first, so I would think you should first look at your power supply and power connections carefully.

The current and voltage shown when you tap DISPLAY seems to be normal, but you still could have a power supply connection that is adequate for low currents and has a significant voltage drop when the current increases.

----- Original Message ----- After an interrupted build K2 / 4313 nearing completion but have run into trouble at the first stage of 40-Meter Transmitter Alignment (Page 75).
Elecraft Dummy Load connected.
Frequency set to display 7100 KHz
Power Output set to 2.0W
Holding 'Tune' there is a momentary burst of side-tone then in turn the display shows:-
                      1) Elecraft
                      2) 2.04P 1.09
                      3) 7100 KHz
But no evidence of transmit power.
Tapping display shows 13.5 / 0.22.
