Alan, I have the SmallIR and will confirm what a wonderful experience it is to use. We get what we pay for. The quality is excellent. I will save these directions for future use. Right now I don't have the interface in the original Steppir controller.

As Dick mentioned, then you aren't limited to 38400 baud. And also there is less traffic on that side, which may be less confusing to the SteppIR. BTW, I will be getting a SteppIR antenna here at N1AL soon so I can try it out myself.
