Wayne,
I hadn't noticed that when I first set this up (years ago). I will try,
don't see why not. Only exception is that my 6m is TRN, but that
shouldn't matter since I won't use the KPA on 6m.
Thanks,

Phil,
Could use use the HF-TRN setting of the BAND outputs? (Page 19 of the K3
owner's manual, right column, first paragraph.)
This setting was specifically included to handle the situation where both HF
and VHF band switching is required. Further details are provided on this page.
If that doesn't work, and you really have to use the TRN setting, you have two
other band-switching options for the KPA500: its own front-panel switches, and
RF sensing.

Thanks Jack, then I must be changing my KIO3 Setting back and forth between TRN
and Normal based on HF use or VHF use? right

The KPA only talks on the Auxbus, it does not listen. So yes, the four BAND
signals are needed.

In the KPA cable going to the K3 the band data lines are called out, yet there
is no discussion about instructing the K3 firmware to set band data. My band
data is used for transverters with Config:KIO3 set to TRN. If these lines are
not used and band information is derived from AUXBUS, then do we really need
the four band lines in the cable going from KPA to K3?
thanks,
