The KX3 has a built-in protection against audio overload. If there is too much audio, it shuts down the audio chain.

Take a look at your mic gain setting on the KX3 - it is best set to mid-range. The resolution between steps is much greater at the low end and high end of the mic gain, and you may have difficulty setting for the proper number of ALC bars (in other words, the gain control is "touchy"). At mid-range, the steps are smaller and proper adjustment is easier.

So if you have the mic gain set to a low level, work with the computer soundcard audio levels and the WSJT-X Power slider (misnamed because it is really an audio level control) to get them near a mid-position and allow the KX3 mic gain control will have a better range.
