Hey Lyle, I didn't think it would hurt to replace L1 - just thought maybe the problem went away with my version (rev C) of the KPA100.
BTW - very nice explanation of separating the K2/KPA100 - I ordered the parts yesterday to split mine. Thanks for the nicely detailed process.
