Actually, Jack very little electronics is outside the building, but inside the inside air conditioner unit. Outside is the compressor, and a relay. In some parts of Tx, the outside residential units fail regularly, becauser the field of electric current for the relay attracts fire ants who try to nest in the relay box, thus shorting it out.
