No. F5 was probably the answer. I had not realized the F5 trick was necessary. I intentionally worked on a back up mail db and index file. And then I just relaunched. Apparently, from what you are indicating, since I hadn't respecified the reworked file, Emailer defaulted to opening the original file (as altered). Although, I carefully did not alter the original file. Maybe the reworking I did left Emailer pointing to the reworked file and I should have used F5 to return to pointing to the main (untouched) file. I was getting worried because I clicked on what should have been an untouched file and opened a reworked file. I could have stuffed it or placed it on a disk not mounted or even changed it's creator code temporarily. But I was hoping that I could have done it as I tried to do. Next time I mess with the mail DB I will first place a back up with an altered creator code aside, then try using F5 to point to the different files.
