This means that your printer was not found.
It's not switched on.
It's not connected.
It's connected to a port that's not recognised (i.e. not USB).
It's connected via a USB hub that's not supported.
The driver is out of date for the MacOS.

Ah. I have a feeling that works only in "Tiger". Try connecting the 
printer direct.
