This means that your printer was not found.

It's not switched on.

It's not connected.

It's connected to a port that's not recognised (i.e. not USB).

It's connected via a USB hub that's not supported.

The driver is out of date for the MacOS.


As Martin suggested this sounds like the printer is not on and therefore not being recognized. I used to have this issue with my USB printer. I had to manually turn it on before I attempted to print, that is until I finally rooted around in the printer prefs and lo and behold there was a box, when selected, that turned the printer on automatically. cool :-}  FWIW I tried printing from CE and it works!  as does photoshop  and all my other classic apps. G4  X.4.5
I don't think I'll ever get used to Mail. I want my emailer back  Waaaahhhhhhhh
