Greetings;

I am not getting anywhere on making use of halio.so with camunits-emc.

I have a halio.so that I found, and one that I built from the emc-
camunits.tar.gz archive, which is about 5k larger.

Looking at the Makefile in that archive, or in the even later
emc-camunits-08e1dc7233e8c7936cd760212305a28f7fad53e3 archive,

the compiler flags setting code is:
============
ifneq ($(EMC2_HOME),)
LOCAL_CFLAGS += -I. -Iemc2/
LOCAL_LDFLAGS += -L$(EMC2_HOME)/lib
endif

LOCAL_CFLAGS += -fPIC $(shell pkg-config --cflags camunits glib-2.0)
LOCAL_CFLAGS += -I/usr/include/linuxcnc -DULAPI

LIBDIR=$(shell pkg-config --variable=camunitslibdir camunits)

override CFLAGS += $(LOCAL_CFLAGS)
override LDFLAGS += $(LOCAL_LDFLAGS)

===========

There is not an env var named EMC2_HOME set. With todays (literally) set
of linuxcnc-dev files installed, what should I set this EMC2_HOME to be
before I issue the make?

FWIW, Nothing fusses without it being set.

HOWEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whoopy hot damn even! The fix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I set EMC2_HOME=/usr/include/linuxcnc, exported it, did an
ls -l;make clean;make;ls -l and got an identical length .so.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, just for S&G, I did a quick sudo make install. And didn't even think
to run an ldconfig.

On running linuxcnc -l, it seemed to launch about 2 or 3 times faster than
before, and on switching to the CAM_View tab, the DRO is there! And a test
config saved from that button looks like its all there for a change.

Now, one other item. I have seen a screen snapshot showing the DRO sitting
in a black square cut into the image, but mine doesn't cut the insert, so
what option do I set to get this black background for the dro cut-in? If
there is something bright in the corner of the image, I can't see the DRO
as its also white.

Now all I need is the little camera. Theoretically here tomorrow.

Cheers, Gene
