Minor nit-pick, the executable on that web page is named camview-emc-
f1oat.py but I was reading it as camview-emc-float.py. ell and one swap
IOW.

So, I am back to almost working. However, if I install libgl and friends,
so you new halio.c will build, that rips out libgl-mesa-swx11 and all I get
are back boxes for the video. Installing libgh-mesa-swx11 rips out a bunch
of libgl-mesa stuffs, and the camera works great, but when launching
linuxcnc -l, I get this error on the console:

** (camview-emc-float.py:1930): WARNING **:
/usr/local/lib/camunits/halio.so: undefined symbol: gluOrtho2D

and 2 other effects.

1. none of the emc.halio stuff shows up in the control menu, and instead of
the overly on the back plot, I get a separate, moveable and closeable
screen with the camera output in it. The camera works fine in this
separate window.

Also, and this to Alex I believe, none of it works, bailing out on the
launch, is line 3182(3?) of /usr/bin/axis uses "child = Popen(cmd)" but
works as I describe if that line reads "child = Popen(cmd, shell=True)".
According to the python guru's on that list, it really should work both
ways.

The print cmd output one line above it says this:

['~/linuxcnc/configs/my-mill-atom-2/camview-emc-float.py', '-v', '640x480',
'-c', 'camview.cfg', '-g', 'cam.ui', '-H', 'campins.hal', '-w',
'134218062']

Which, no more than I know about it, looks good, but is it?

Is there an equ to gluortho2D in any of the *-mesa-swx11 stuff?

IOW, can halio.c be patched to use those -dev files?

Thanks Frederick.

Cheers, Gene
