I just got contacted by a guy looking to retrofit a machine
with a LOT of I/O points. He needs 90 inputs and 90
outputs. I see there is a driver for the Opto22 PCIAC5
board, but that one is expensive, and only has 48 I/Os.
Also, there is the Advantech PCL720, with 32 each way, and
quite a bit cheaper. But, the driver notes it has NOT been
tested with the PCI version. I see the PCI boards may be
organized a bit differently than the ISA board. Has anybody
tested the PCI version of the Advantech with the LinuxCNC
driver?

So, can anybody recommend a mega-I/O board that can be used
with LinuxCNC? 180 I/O points is not practical with my
PPMC board system. But, if another board could handle all
this I/O, then he could use my PPMC for the motion part of
the interface.

Thanks,

Jon
