ENs do not apply in Australia. Standards Australia adopts many of the IEC standards and applies National Deviations and renumbers them as AS (IEC60950:1999 became AS/NZS60950:2000). At present, there is no legal basis to require a compliance report for ITE that does not fall under the Telecommunication Labeling Notice. If a laptop has no functional aspects mentioned in Schedule 1, Part 2, of the TLN accessories sold with it that have one or more of these functionalities, there's no specific legal requirement for you to do anything. However, if a laptop contains any functional aspects mentioned in Schedule 1, Part 2, of the TLN or accessories sold with it that have one or more of these functionalities, the TLN applies and compliance reports are required by legislation. The TLN was updated 26NOV2003 to address adoption of AS/NZS60950:2000, which is considered a "Telecommunications Technical Standard." The TLN allows a parallel path to compliance of either using TS001 (which points to AS/NZS3260) -or- AS/NZS60950:2000 (note that the TLN has a typographical error, replacing the colon with a hyphen). The alternative path approach will remain effective until 1JUL2004, after which TS001 expires and the parallel compliance path resolves into AS/NZS60950:2000, only. As a point of comparison, EN60950:1992 through A11 expires 1JAN2005; it is unfortunate that a coincidental expiry date wasn't chosen for TS001. I note that AS/NZS60950.1:2003 was published 15SEP2003 and will supercede AS/NZS60950:2000 on 1JUL2006. However, AS/NZS60950.1:2003 is not yet mentioned in the TLN, though the Australian Communications Industry Forum (ACIF) had recommended it immediately supercede AS/NZS60950:2000, upon publication.
