I was looking at the wording of the LVD guidance document which states “The Directive covers electrical equipment designed for use with a voltage rating of between 50 and 1000 V for alternating current and between 75 and 1500 V for direct current. It should be noted that these voltage ratings refer to the voltage of the electrical input or output, not to voltages that may appear inside the equipment” and seems to imply that the 1500 V dc rating limit is for outputs as well as inputs. Is this a wrong interpretation? If the 230V powered device with output over 1500V is out of LVD than also 9V power supply is out of LVD - the same situation.
