Thanks for the feedback. I was looking at the wording of the LVD guidance document which states “The Directive covers electrical equipment designed for use with a voltage rating of between 50 and 1000 V for alternating current and between 75 and 1500 V for direct current. It should be noted that these voltage ratings refer to the voltage of the electrical input or output, not to voltages that may appear inside the equipment” and seems to imply that the 1500 V dc rating limit is for outputs as well as inputs. Electricity supplies >1500V are generally outwith the Low Voltage public distribution network, and connection would be governed by the supply authority. If you are considering outputs from equipment >1500V, then that does not place the equipment outside the scope of the LVD. Standards such as EN61010-1 provide for secondary circuits at kV levels.
