I'm not too surprised that a more or less 'out-of-the blue' enquiry aroused suspicions. I think IEEE should adopt and promote the 'Design it in!' movement, so that test houses could be 'encouraged' to provide the categorized data, wholly anonymized. Those data would form a strong part of the movement's platform. One lab that does both safety and EMC, happened to mention that the 90% rule applied to safety as well as EMC, but would no discuss details, nor do they want me to mention their name. It points out we need to do a better job in the development stage of products..
